Theodoros Mavridis, MD, PhD, is a Consultant Neurologist – Headache and Stroke Specialist currently based in Dublin, Ireland. He serves at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH), where he is involved in acute stroke care, rapid access stroke prevention, specialist headache clinics and general neurology. He has previously held consultant and academic posts in both Ireland and Greece, including at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown and the First Department of Neurology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Eginition Hospital
Dr Mavridis has a strong research focus on primary and secondary headache disorders, with particular interest in migraine pathophysiology, treatment-refractory migraine, pediatric migraine, and precision approaches to headache management. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including systematic reviews, meta-analyses, narrative reviews, and expert opinion papers in leading international headache and neurology journals. His work has addressed key clinical questions in migraine prevention and acute treatment, including CGRP-targeted therapies, oral versus biologic preventive strategies, onabotulinumtoxinA, and management algorithms for complex and resistant migraine phenotypes.
In addition to migraine, his research portfolio includes headache in the context of neurological and systemic disease, neurovascular imaging biomarkers, and overlap syndromes between headache and cerebrovascular pathology. He is actively involved in collaborative, multicentre research projects and contributes regularly to international scientific discourse through conference presentations, invited talks, and educational activities.
Dr Mavridis is an active member of major international scientific societies, including the European Headache Federation, International Headache Society, European Academy of Neurology, and European Stroke Organisation. He serves on scientific panels and committees, contributes to educational initiatives and e-learning, and regularly participates as faculty member and session chair at international neurology and headache congresses.
