Amit Khairnar, Head Researcher at FNUSA ICRC Brno

Dr.Khairnar research focus is development of neurorpotective therapy which may halt or reverse the progression of Parkinsons disease (PD). He is also interested in detecting role of neuroinflammation in transferring alpha synuclein from one neuron to other. He has experience of both transgenic and toxin based mouse model of PD. Currently he is working with intragastric rotenone model in which alpha synucelin accumulation starts from enteric neurons and progresses to substantia nigra. His goal is to study newer agents first in vitro on enteric neurons treated with rotenone and later test them on in vivo rotenone model. Dr.Khairnar has wide expertise in behavioural studies, immunohistochemistry, western blot, in vitro cell culture, PET, SPECT, CT and MRI imaging.
