Geschwind Michael

Dr. Michael Geschwind is a Professor of Neurology and the Michael J. Homer Family Chair in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He is a behavioral neurologist with a strong interest in movement disorders. He co-directs the UCSF Memory and Aging Center HDSA COE and Ataxia clinic. His clinical research focuses in three main areas: 1. Rapidly progressive dementias, including prion diseases and autoimmune antibody-mediated encephalopathies 2. Movement disorders such as Huntington’s disease (HD), spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs), multiple system atrophy (MSA) and other atypical parkinsonian syndromes and 3. adult-onset leukoencephalopathies, incuding CADASIL. In clinic, Dr. Geschwind evaluates and manages patients with the above disorders as well as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), frontotemporal dementia spectrum disorders and other conditions
