Zvezdan Pirtošek, MD, PhD
Zvezdan Pirtošek is Professor of neurology and cognitive neuroscience and Head of Chair of Neurology at the Medical Faculty at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
He did his postgraduate studies and subspecialisation in neurodegenerative disorders and cognitive neurophysiology at the University College London Institute of Neurology.
Professor Pirtošek is a co-founder of the Slovene Association of Patients with Parkinson’s Disease and current head of the Brain Council of Slovenia. He founded Centre for Movement Disorders, Centre for Cognitive Disorders, and Laboratory for Clinical Neuroscience at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. Internationally he serves as a member of the Management board of the EU Joint Programme Neurodegenerative Disease Research. His main clinical, academic, and research activities are in the field of movement disorders, dementia, and cognitive neuroscience. For his contribution in the field of neurology President of the Republic distinguished him with The Order of Merit of Republic of Slovenia.
