Andreja Bujan Kovač is a neurologist-epileptologist at the Department of Neurology, University Hospital Centre Zagreb, School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, and the Referral Centre of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia for Epilepsy (Affiliated Partner of ERN EpiCARE). Her expertise lies in preoperative assessment of drug-resistant epilepsy, epilepsy neuroimaging (including post-processing methods), and brain tumor-related epilepsy management with special interest to „awake brain neurosurgery“.
As a member of the Multidisciplinary Team for Epilepsy Neurosurgery, she contributes to comprehensive patient care. Following training in Montpellier, Prof. Bujan Kovač helped establish the “awake neurosurgery” team in 2015 and have been an active member ever since, contributing to significantly improved patient outcomes through minimized postoperative neurological deficits.
Since October 2021, Bujan Kovač has been an Associate Postdoctoral Fellow, and since April 2023, a Research Associate at the Department of Neurology, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Medicine. With over 15 years of clinical and specialist experience, she has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications, conference abstracts, and book chapters. Bujan Kovač regularly presents at major national and international congresses and has participated in various research projects and drug trials and is also actively involved in public health education and awareness campaigns related to epilepsy and hold positions in relevant professional organizations.
