Goldberg-Stern, Hadassa

Professor Hadassa Goldberg-Stern, MD is a Professor at Tel Aviv Faculty of Medicine, Israel and is also an Epilepsy Specialist for both children and adults. She is currently the Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and EEG Laboratory at Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel. This is a tertiary university-affiliated medical center, including a video EEG monitoring unit and epilepsy surgery program. Professor Goldberg-Stern runs a epilepsy clinic for advanced treatments in intractable epilepsy cases, including vagal nerve stimulation and ketogenic diet.

Prof. Goldberg-Stern trained in General Neurology and then went on to do a Fellowship in the field of epilepsy at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center and University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

Academically, Professor Goldberg-Stern is involved in teaching Israeli and American students in her field.  Her research fields involve autoimmune epilepsy, vagal nerve stimulation, ketogenic diet, cognitive disturbances in epilepsy, and genetics in epilepsy. Professor Goldberg-Stern has written over 100 papers, which have been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has also been involved in several clinical trials for treating rare epilepsy in children with developmental and/or epileptic encephalopathies, including drug studies with Perampanel (Fycoma), Topiramate, Lacosamide (Vimpate) for infants and intranasal Midazolam for cluster seizures, and more recently, Fintepla for CDKL5 patients, etc.

Professor Goldberg-Stern has actively participated in many national and international scientific meetings.  Professor Goldberg-Stern is affiliated to the Israel Neurological Association, the Israeli League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) and the American Epilepsy Society. She is also part of the CORE-VNS Registry Group and the Epi4K Consortium.
