Joanna Siuda

Joanna Siuda is a neurologist, academic teacher, head of the Department of Neurology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice in Medical University of Silesia in Katowice; head of the Department of Neurology at the  University Clinical Centre Teaching Hospital; President Elect of the Polish Parkinson’s Disease and other Movement Disorders Society;  member of the board of the Polish Neurological Society; member of the board of the Polish Alzheimer’s Society; member of the board of the Silesian branch of the Polish Neurological Society; in 2020-2023 member of the Committee of Neurological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences; member of the scientific board of the Polish Journal of Neurology and Neurosurgery; founder of the Silesian Parkinson’s Academy, a joint initiative of specialists in many fields who diagnose and treat people with Parkinson’s disease; also cooperates with the Silesian Alzheimer’s Association. Author of over a hundred scientific articles, several book chapters and dozens of conference presentations. Scientifically, she is primarily interested in neurodegenerative diseases associated with cognitive impairment and dementia, as well as the specificity of non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease and atypical parkinsonisms. Privately, a fulfilled wife and a mother of two adult sons; in free time she loves mountain hiking.
