Bonnani Laura

Laura Bonnani is currently Full Professor of Neurology, at the Department of Medicine and Aging Sciences of the G. d’Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara.

Visiting Professor at the University of Cincinnati-Ohio, USA.

In the past: visiting scientist at the Department of Neurology -University of California at Irvine, Irvine, CA, USA. Visiting scientist at the Neuroscience Laboratory, Department of Endocrinology, Yale University School of Medicine, Yale, New Haven, CT, USA. Visiting scientist at the Neurobiology Laboratory of the Marine Biology Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA, USA.

Her research interests are in clinical neurophysiology and the study of biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases with particular emphasis on parkinsonism-associated dementias and Dementia with Lewy Bodies.

She is the coordinator of several national projects funded by the Ministry of Health, and coordinates 29 research groups in the national context, on various topics in the field of neurology, with a predominant but not exclusive focus on neurodegenerative diseases.

Bonnani is an active member of national and international scientific societies and associations.

She is the coordinator of 8 international research groups in Lewy body dementia and is responsible for the clinical neurophysiology work group of the European DLB consortium. He is the principal investigator for Italy in 17 international research groups in the field of synucleopathies.

Active participation in international scientific societies or associations, member of the steering committee of the European-DLB consortium, member of the governing board of Electrophysiology Professional Interest Area (EPIA)- ISTAART, Member of the Board of LBD Professional Interest Area (LBDPIA)- ISTAART, President of LBD Professional Interest Area (prodromal LBDPIA)-ISTAART.

In 2023, he was awarded the “Top10 researcher in dementia field” by the European Academy of Neurology.
