Ruta Mameniskiene is a board-certified neurologist, clinical neurophysiologist, and epileptologist. She is a professor and senior researcher at Vilnius University, and she is responsible for Epilepsy unit at Vilnius University hospital Santaros Clinics. She is editor-in-chief of “Seminars in Neurology”, the cover-editor of European Journal of Epilepsy Seizure, elected president of the Lithuanian Society for Epileptology, board member of Lithuanian Society of neurologists, initiator, founder and board member of Lithuanian association of epilepsy patients. Also she is a VIREPA lecturer, one of the founders and program secretary of the Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy, targeted to young specialists. Sixteen highly successful courses with more than 500 participants from all over the world took place in the countries around Baltic Sea BSSE 17 this year again. She completed the curriculum of the European Epilepsy Academy (EUREPA) and received the certificate in epileptology. The main research interest of Professor Mameniskiene is cognitive functions in patients with epilepsy, status epilepticus, epilepsy in women and in the elderly, family and sexual life, and headache in epilepsy patients, EEGs and PSGs. She is a supervisor of neurology residents and Ph.D. students. She is the author of over 70 peer-reviewed papers.
