Mikulik, Robert

Robert Mikulik is a Professor of Neurology at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. Additionally, he serves as the founder and Director of the Stroke Research Program at the International Clinical Research Center (ICRC) at St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno. He received his training at Masaryk University in Brno and the Texas Medical Center in Houston, USA. In May 2023, he assumed the role of Head of the Neurology Department at Tomas Bata Regional Hospital in Zlin.
Notably, Prof. Mikulik is the founder and chairman of the National Stroke Research Network STROCZECH, encompassing 24 hospitals in the Czech Republic. He also holds the position of chairman of the Scientific Council of STROCZECH. As a member of the steering committee of the Cerebrovascular Division of the Czech Neurological Society, Prof. Mikulík oversees the management of stroke care in the Czech Republic. Over the past 15 years, he has been the main author or co-author of all national recommendations for stroke treatment.
Furthermore, Prof. Mikulík serves as the coordinator of the global stroke care quality registry RES-Q, boasting participation from more than 780,000 patients across 98 countries. This registry stands as the world’s largest stroke registry in terms of the number of participating countries. Additionally, he is the national coordinator for numerous clinical trials and actively contributes to the scientific boards of major international studies.
Prof. Mikulík is the initiator and principal investigator of the program for improving stroke care in Eastern Europe (ESO-EAST) under the auspices of the European Stroke Organisation.
