Reis, Jacques

Jacques Reis – M.D., Ph.D., A.E.A., Neurologist, Environmental Medicine

Doctor Reis is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Strasbourg (1982), where he obtained a Master’s degree (1977) and an Attestation d‘Etude Approfondie in Physiology (1982). In September 2022, Doctor Reis defended a Ph. D. thesis devoted to Environmental Medicine, at the Université of Strasbourg.

For 30 years, Dr. Reis has combined private neurological practice with involvement in professional organizations, education and expertise. In 2000, he has launched the new field of Environmental Neurology, contributing to the creation of the Club of Environmental Neurology (France). Together with late Prof. Leon Prockop, he created the Environmental Neurology Research Group of the World Federation of Neurology in 2007. Currently he serves as Vice-Chair of this group. He is a member of the European Academy of Neurology’s Environmental Influences in Neurology Task Force created in 2024.

Doctor Reis taught Environmental Medicine from 2009 to 2023 at the University of Strasbourg (France) and from 2017 to 2023 at Uppsala University (Sweden). He still teaches at the universities of Luxembourg and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing. He will participate to the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Brain Health at the University of Bern, starting in December 2024.

Author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications, he coordinated as guest-editor two special issues devoted to Environmental Neurology, published by the Journal of Neurological science (2007) and La Revue Neurologique (2019). Currently, he is coordinating a new special issue for JNS.
